For five years, I couldn't walk.
My journey into disability began during COVID in 2020. Just two weeks after receiving the vaccine I was diagnosed with a rare medical condition that suddenly took away my ability to walk. Following several unsuccessful surgeries, I battled a relentless infection that left me bedridden, stole my independence, and challenged my hope every single day. Yet through God's grace, unwavering faith, and the love of my family, I found the strength to persevere.
When I was finally able to walk again, I realized that my personal battle had revealed something much larger. The greatest obstacle wasn't simply my disability—it was navigating a world that wasn't designed to support people living with one. During my recovery, and later while caring for my mother after she suffered a femur fracture, I experienced firsthand the daily frustrations that millions of Americans with disabilities face.
I circled parking lots searching for a single accessible parking space. I never knew whether an electric wheelchair would be available—or if it would even be charged. I was met with confusion instead of assistance. I encountered hotels, restaurants, stores, and public places with steps I couldn't climb, narrow aisles I couldn't navigate, and restrooms I couldn't safely use.
Those experiences changed my life. I realized that accessibility isn't just about ramps and parking spaces. It's about independence. It's about dignity. It's about giving every person the opportunity to fully participate in everyday life without unnecessary barriers. No one should have to struggle simply because the information and resources they need are impossible to find.
That's why I founded The Handicap App™.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission is to transform accessibility by bringing everything together under one intelligent platform. We're building a community where people can locate accessible businesses, share verified reviews and photographs, connect with others facing similar challenges, and help businesses improve through transparency and accountability. We're creating future technologies like on-demand wheelchair delivery, allowing users to simply Drop a Pin™ and request an electric wheelchair directly to their location. Most importantly, we're building a nationwide community where people with disabilities are no longer navigating these challenges alone.
Every review shared. Every business improved. Every barrier removed. Moves us one step closer to a future where accessibility is no longer an afterthought—but an expectation. My hope is simple. That no person will ever have to endure the uncertainty, frustration, and isolation that inspired me to create The Handicap App™. Together, we can replace an outdated system with one built on innovation, compassion, accountability, and community. Together, we can create greater independence, freedom, mobility, and dignity for millions of Americans.
